Looking back: Presentations part 2 featuring my insane ramblings - Ian Teresa-Calleja

These presentations just about lived up to my expectations. Or… I suppose they technically exceeded them. The only group that I have any faith in is probably group one. I’m less confident in the other two. It’s like a scale from most to least sociable. Group one is pretty responsive, and group three has a few good eggs, but group two took a day to even consider giving me access to their presentation so that I might edit some things. There are always some concerned members that reach out to me but there’s always very little that I can do to help them except maybe confront their group members on their behalf. That's the sad part of trying to help people who don't want to be helped. Ultimately, however, it’s every man for himself in the classroom.      I just can't imagine a world where I'm not working, producing, or contributing anything to society. I feel like a life where I can't be productive is a life where I can't find fulfillment. There are people ...

Reflection of presentation 2

For the second set of presentations, we explored some really beautiful and fascinating topics. Group 1 presented on the topic of “What Happiness Does For Society”, group 2 presented on the topic of “Paying it Forward”, and group 3 presented on the topic of “Self Care & Eating Well: Heart, Mind Body”. Each topic was as interesting as the other and these presentations really allowed us to see each other's personal ethics and opinions about certain issues. The first group to present this time was group 3, giving an in depth look into personal self care and what that consists of. What was different about this set of presentations was the fact that each group was tasked with creating a brochure for their topic. Group 3 created a beautiful pastel colored aesthetically pleasing brochure that explained all the different sectors of self care which included: Mental Self Care, Social Self Care, Emotional Self Care, Physical Self Care, and finally Good Eating. They included a sent...

Reflections on past presentation

Over the course of the last few weeks, we’ve gotten the opportunity to all work together and watch each other present as teams. As class leaders, Ian and I had the privilege of being involved in each of the three individual groups allowing us to work with the entire class. The groups consisted of about 10-13 people each, all with different approaches and ideas. Group 1 was in charge of giving a presentation on “Intercultural Communication” found in chapter 3. Group 2’s topic was “Communication In Groups” found in chapter 9. Lastly group 3 was in charge of presenting “Group Leadership and Problem Solving” found in chapter 10. As class leaders, we were able to watch on the sidelines as each group brainstormed and created the amazing presentations we had the honor to watch.  The first group to present was group 1 giving an amazing presentation on intercultural communication. My favorite thing about this group is that the morning of their presentation they all logg...

Looking Back: Presentations

Introduction and Context      For this first  project, our communications class was divided into three groups via alphabetical order. Then, three days later, those who missed the first few class were added to each group arbitrarily. The three groups comprising of something over 10 people. Which was relatively large.      As one of my classes leaders, I had the absolute privilege of helping my peers work on these presentations from behind the scenes. Though, not personally, really, as they didn’t ask very much of me. I still did my best to aid them, however possible, and facilitate the process to the best of my abilities. There was a marginal amount of drama among the groups and a sometimes frustrating lack of communication for a communications class. Though some groups really excelled in this aspect, others struggled considerably. Which makes me wonder how they might of made it through high school without talking to anyone or responding to their profes...
